Registration
How do I register for Seminar Day?

What is included in my registration?
- In-person ($75): Entry to all sessions, breakfast, lunch, dinner, lab tours, a gift from Caltech Alumni, and access to session recordings after the event.
- Virtual ($10): Live Zoom access to all sessions on event day and access to video recordings after the event.
What are the registration deadlines?
In-person registration closes Friday, May 1, 2026. Virtual registration closes Friday, May 15, 2026.
Can I register on-site or walk in?
No. Advance registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance.
Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?
Yes. Refunds are available through May 1, 2026. Email info@alumni.caltech.edu for assistance.
Can I switch between in-person and virtual registration?
Yes. You may switch from virtual to in-person ($75) until the May 1 deadline. You may switch from in-person to virtual at any time through May 15. Email info@alumni.caltech.edu to make changes.

Where can I find the schedule of events?

How do I sign up for lab tours?
Lab tours are first-come, first-served on-site. Sign up at the Lab Tours tent on Beckman Mall during check-in. One tour per guest. Some labs have requirements that cannot be waived. Available lab tours will be announced soon.
How does Seminar Day Kids work?
Children ages 5 to 13 can join Caltech students for a morning of STEM activities while you attend sessions. Registration is $30 per child, limited to 50 participants, and closes May 1, 2026. At least one parent or guardian must be registered for Seminar Day. No walk-in registration available.
Can I attend just part of the day?
Yes. In-person guests may come and go throughout the day. Virtual guests can join or leave sessions as their schedule allows. Recordings will be available to all registered guests after the event.
For In-Person Attendees
Where do I check in?
Pick up your credentials at the check-in booths on Beckman Mall in front of Beckman Auditorium starting at 7:30 a.m. Registration tables are organized by last name.
Where should I park?
Parking is available in the Wilson Parking Structures (341 S. Wilson Ave.) and the California Parking Structure (1248 California Blvd.).
Saturday and Sunday: All parking lots are open and free. No permit required—park in any unreserved stall.
Holliston Parking Structure (370 S. Holliston Ave.) is also available for closer access to Alumni House and Athenaeum events.
Please note: Street parking on Hill Avenue has a 2-hour limit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Sundays. The Athenaeum requests that guests do not park in their lot due to limited capacity.
Where can I find accessible parking?
The California Structure (1248 E. California Blvd.) has an elevator; Wilson and Holliston Structures do not. Guests with accessibility placards may use any marked accessible stall on campus or street parking on Hill Avenue.
Courtesy shuttles will be available for guests needing assistance.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably. Seminar Day includes both indoor sessions and outdoor activities. Layers are recommended as temperatures can vary.
Is Wi-Fi available on campus?
Yes. Alumni and visitors can connect to the Caltech Visitor wireless network. Once connected, open a browser and go to caltech.edu to complete authentication.
Attendees from institutions using eduroam can connect with their home credentials. Those with Access.Caltech credentials should use the Caltech Secure network.
How do I ask questions during sessions?
Both in-person and virtual guests use Slido to submit and vote on questions. No app download required—scan the QR code or enter the passcode shown during each session.
For Virtual Participants
What platform is used for virtual attendance?
All sessions livestream via Zoom. Login details will be emailed to registered virtual participants a few days before the event.
Can I use my phone to join?
Yes, though a computer is recommended for the best experience. You may use any device compatible with Zoom, including mobile phones and tablets.
Will closed captioning be available?
Yes. Zoom provides automated closed captioning. Click the CC button at the bottom of your Zoom window during the session.
How do I ask questions during sessions?
Both in-person and virtual guests use Slido to submit and vote on questions. No app download required—scan the QR code or enter the passcode shown during each session.
Will recordings be available after the event?
Yes. All sessions will be recorded and made available exclusively to registered guests. Links will be shared via email after the event.
I’m having trouble logging in. What should I do?
Check that you have the correct Zoom link and passcode from your confirmation email. Make sure your Zoom app is updated to the latest version.
Troubleshooting tips:
- Check that your internet connection is stable
- Update your Zoom app if needed
- Uninstall and reinstall the app
- Clear Zoom cache and cookies
- Restart your device or browser
I’m having trouble hearing the presentation. What should I do?
Try these steps:
- Confirm speakers or headphones are plugged in and not muted
- Check Bluetooth connectivity if using wireless headphones
- Test your audio in Zoom settings
- Make sure the correct audio output is selected
Safety and Security
Do I need to wear my badge?
Yes. All guests must wear their Seminar Day badge at all times and present it to enter sessions and permitted buildings.
What if there’s an emergency?
Call Caltech Security at (626) 395-5000. For non-emergencies: (626) 395-4701.
Follow instructions from staff and emergency personnel. Updates will be posted to the Caltech Emergency website.

What else is happening this weekend?
Seminar Day is part of a full weekend of alumni programming:
· Half Century Club: Thursday–Sunday events honoring alumni who graduated 50+ years ago.
· Milestone Class Dinners: Friday House happy hours and an evening celebration at the Athenaeum for reunion classes ending in 1 and 6, guests, and all alumni who wish to join.
Do I need to register separately for Half Century Club or Milestone Dinners?
