‍Lessons Learned from Building and Selling Life Science Companies‍

‍Over the past 25 years, Maneesh has commercialized multiple life science technologies via successful startups. His previous startups include ParAllele (Acquired by Affymetrix in 2005), Auriphex (Acquired by Illumina in 2009), Ion Torrent (Acquired by Life Technologies in 2010), Butterfly (IPO: 2021), and Cirina (Acquired by GRAIL in 2017). These companies built the first platforms to democratize next generation sequencing and medical ultrasound imaging, as well as the first liquid biopsy test for cancer early detection from blood plasma. The resulting products have positively impacted many lives while also creating significant venture investment returns.

Currently, Maneesh is the CEO/Co-founder of Mirvie, a women’s health company with a breakthrough platform for pregnancy health. Maneesh is passionate about building startups that develop breakthrough technologies into innovative products that address large unmet needs in healthcare. In this talk, Maneesh will discuss with us lessons learned from this entrepreneur journey and the impact on society. Also, Maneesh is a member of the Board of Directors for Mammoth Biosciences and Adela. He has previously served as an executive advisor at several life science companies, including NextBio (ILMN: 2013), Invitae (IPO: 2015), Cellular Research (BD: 2015), Counsyl (MYGN: 2018) and Inscopix (Bruker: 2023). Maneesh has degrees from Caltech (BS, Physics & EE) and Stanford (MS & PhD) and was trained at the Stanford Genome Technology Center. He is an author of tens of publications and an inventor of a dozen patents.

Maneesh enjoys being an actively engaged dad to his two daughters and spending time on the bike, windsurfing or swimming.
