An Evening with President Jayawardhana
A series of gatherings with Caltech President Ray Jayawardhana in cities across the country.
The Invitation
In his first letter to the Caltech community, Ray Jayawardhana closed with an invitation: “If you see me around campus, please do say hello.” This series extends that invitation to cities across the country.
Jayawardhana became Caltech’s 10th president on July 1, 2026, and will be inaugurated on campus on Thursday, October 29. In the coming months, he looks forward to connecting with alumni, students, parents, donors, and friends of the Institute nationwide.
Each gathering features a fireside chat with the president, questions from the audience, and time for conversation. President Jayawardhana will share his early impressions of Caltech and JPL, the priorities taking shape for the years ahead, and the ways you can help shape Caltech’s future.

Who’s Invited
The series is open to the Caltech community: alumni, students, parents, donors, and friends of the Institute. Registration is required, and space is limited. There is no cost to attend.
About the President
Ray Jayawardhana is the 10th president of Caltech and professor of astronomy. A renowned astrophysicist, he studies the origin and evolution of planetary systems and the prospects for life in the universe. He is also an award-winning author, a Carl Sagan Medal recipient, and has an asteroid named after him: 4668 Rayjay.
