Dr Rinker not only completed two graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering but also became an assistant professor until 1965 and went on to start the chemical engineering program at UCSB which went from dead last in the rankings to a consistent top 10 for the past decade or more. He was a rare pioneer and gutsy, humble professor.
