Q. Are accounts set up automatically?

A. ‎No, applications must be submitted through the “Request New Account” link found at the top of the page.


Q. When will the content transfer from my student account to my alumni account?

A. Starting the summer after graduation, IMSS will send periodic emails with updates about the student account termination process, including the timing of the content migration which typically takes place in early October. Content will be migrated as long as the alumni account has been logged into before then. The process is covered here: IMSS information for graduating students.


Q. What about forwarding?

A. Forwarding must be requested from IMSS before your Access account is removed. Instructions are here: https://imss.caltech.edu/email-forwarding.


Q. Which IMSS services will end with the closing of the Access account?

A. Included in closed services are: email and Office365, ssh login, Box, VPN, Caltech sitewide software, Caltech Library databases, and the access.caltech web portal.


Q. What if I am staying on at Caltech?

A. ‎If you have graduated but will remain at Caltech (as staff, volunteer, graduate student, postdoc), please advise IMSS of your change in status by sending an email to accounts@caltech.edu. Please include as much information as you can about your new status so they can reclassify your account properly and let you know what to do to keep your current access.caltech account.
