Caltech Together: San Diego Second Sunday (August 2025)

Held on the second Sunday of every month, this hike explores scenic trails across the region. This month, join fellow alumni for a late-summer beach hike from Cardiff to South Carlsbad. This one-way, 5-mile hike takes advantage of the low tide (4:26 p.m.) for a coastal walk along sandy stretches and scenic bluffs.

Meetup and timing
• Meet at the top of the Encinitas Surf Stairs at 3:15 p.m.
• The group will depart promptly at 3:30 p.m. to stay ahead of the tide.
• A return carpool will be available for drivers.

Optional dinner
After the hike, participants are invited to continue the conversation over pizza and drinks at Pizza Port Solana Beach.

What to bring
• Sunscreen and hat
• Water bottle
• Comfortable walking shoes or sandals with grip
