Gregg Hallinan, professor of astronomy and director of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory, shared updates on the Deep Synoptic Array—an ambitious project to build a 2,000-antenna telescope.
On May 17, Techers returned to campus for the 88th Seminar Day—Caltech’s annual alumni event showcasing faculty research across disciplines. This year’s program included talks on land use policy, soft materials engineering, AI-driven approaches to cancer research, polar science, a major new radio astronomy project, and more.
Attendees explored Caltech’s newest buildings, toured labs, and chose from sessions featuring graduate and undergraduate student speakers. The day also introduced Seminar Day Kids—a new, hands-on STEM experience for families.
Whether you joined us in Beckman Auditorium or tuned in from abroad, thank you for making this year’s Seminar Day a success.
