Dr. San-Chiun Shen, a distinguished alumnus of the California Institute of Technology (1996), on the evening of March 26, 2021 (Beijing Time) passed away at the age of 103. Dr. San-Chiun Shen received his doctorate in biochemical genetics from Caltech in 1951. He was a well-known Molecular Geneticist, and his achievement was not limited to the research on the genetics of biological nitrogen fixation, but also the acceleration of the progress of molecular genetics. Because of his great contributions, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980. A grand funeral will be held in the morning of March 30, 2021 in Shanghai, China.
