Caltech Alumni House
Located on the east side of Caltech's campus at 345 S. Hill Ave. [MAP], Alumni House is a convenient and welcoming place for alumni to drop by while visiting Caltech. The nearest parking is in front of the house (2 hours) or in the Holliston Avenue parking structure. The Association offices are on the second floor.
Built in 1919 as a single family home, Caltech's Alumni House was opened in 1980. The driving forces behind its establishment were: Carel Otte (MS ’50, PhD ‘54), Jim Workman (BS ’57, MS ’58), and Phil Reynolds (BS ’58, MS ‘59), who each held a term as president of the Caltech Alumni Association between 1979 and 1982. Jim Workman, who was president of the Caltech Alumni Association at the time the house opened, named Carel Otte the permanent RA (Resident Associate) of Alumni House.
Over the years, Alumni House and its garden have been the setting for alumni and student mixers, reunions, game nights, educational programs, networking events, meetings, weddings, and even an occasional round of Norwegian Golf.
Alumni can use the Bascom Alumni Library downstairs for checking email or making local phone calls, sending a fax or making a few copies, and our deck is a pleasant place to take a break in a garden setting.
The house and garden is available for rental by our alumni with a discount to Association members for private social functions, such as weddings (garden only), parties and receptions. Contact us at 626-395-6592 or email@example.com.
