Caltech Alumni Support Local Elementary Schools

For more than a year, Caltech alumni have volunteered their time to teach elementary school students and generate interest in science and technology. Made possible through a partnership between the Caltech Alumni Association and the Pasadena Unified School District, local Caltech grads have led groups of students between 4th and 6th grades on geology expeditions, have judged science fairs, taught units on electricity and magnetism, and even led workshops to build microscopes.
PUSD is still in need of classroom volunteers to help students and teachers with scientific instruction. Share your expertise with young minds: opportunities include helping with physics and chemistry experiments, teaching students to repair computer hardware and manipulate software, judging science fairs, assisting with robotics and archaeology electives and speaking to groups of students about careers in science.
