Caltech's New Division Chairs for CCE and E&AS

Caltech has recently named two new department chairs. Jacqueline K. Barton, Caltech's Arthur and Marian Hanisch Memorial Professor and professor of chemistry, has been named chair of the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, effective July 1. Barton's research focuses on the recognition and reactions of double helical DNA. She has carried out seminal experiments to examine how electrons can migrate through DNA, elucidating how DNA can be damaged and repaired. She has been a Caltech faculty member since 1989.
