Bud was a distinguished Techer.  Elected to NAE in 1989, he received the Hoover Medal 1994.  Regarding the Caltech Alumni Association, he was a director from 1972-1877, Vice President 1974-75 and President 1975-1976.  In 1996, he was awarded the Alumni distinguished Service Award for outstanding achievement in a chosen field.  A charismatic man, Bud was chosen as the leader of every organization he joined; his High School Class, James M Montgomery Consulting Engineers in Pasadena, the American Society of Civil Engineers (both the Los Angeles Section and the National Organization), the American Association of Engineering Societies and the only U.S. citizen to lead the Word Federation of Engineering Organizations (two terms)
