SIECHERT, Paul Charles
April 1, 1916 –
December 8, 2013

Paul Siechert passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 8 at age 97. Born in Iowa, he moved to the Fillmore area at age 6. Despite a
hardscrabble upbringing as a child of the Great Depression, he and his family placed great value on education, and he graduated from Caltech with a degree in Applied Chemistry in 1938. He then began his career with Alhambra Foundry ("Everything in Iron") by setting up its first chemistry lab, retiring as president of the company 43 years later. Deeply involved in community activities, he was charter president of the Alhambra Jr. Chamber of Commerce (now Jaycees), president of Alhambra Rotary, and president of Alhambra Chamber of Commerce. Other community involvement included serving on the boards of Alhambra Community Hospital and USC School of Pharmacy, longtime membership in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association and Masonic lodges in Alhambra and Pasadena.

Paul and Ruth were married in 1941, raised their family in Pasadena, and moved to Morningside of Fullerton in 1991. He remained sharp until the end of his life (photo above taken November 8).

Above all, Paul loved his family. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth, Paul is survived by children Carol (& Bruce) Wagner, Barb (& Dick) Proffitt, and Carl (& Jan); grandchildren Ed, Paul, and Jeff Wagner, and Pam (Smith), Sarah (Bogardus), and Roger Proffitt; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to a reception remembering Paul's life at Morningside of Fullerton, Lakeview Hall, on Sunday, January 19 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to The Rotary Foundation, California Institute of Technology, or a charity of your choice .
