Everette Elijah Griffith

October 17, 1916 - August 18, 2013
Everette E. Griffith Jr. of Valencia, California died August 18, 2013, age 96. Survived by 3 sons, David (Lincoln, CA,) Roger (Scotts Valley, CA), Philip (Needham, MA), daughter, Cynthia Strahan (Sepulveda, CA), 3 stepchildren, Katherine Laue and Carol Lord (both of San Diego, CA) and John Laue (Venezuela), sister-in-law Harriet Griffith (Woodland, CA), 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was born October 17, 1916 in Woodland to Everette and Alice Griffith, oldest of 5 children. Preceded in death by brothers, John (Del Mar) William and Robert, (both of Woodland), and sister, Francis Peterson, (Sacramento).

Class of 1932 Woodland High School Valedictorian, entered Cal Tech as a 15-year-old freshman, upon graduation in 1936 awarded full scholarship to Harvard School of Business Administration by Southern California Harvard Club. Graduated 1938, married Dorothy Donaldson of Hollywood and joined Technicolor Corporation where he celebrated 50 years of service as chemist and treasurer. Lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida when Technicolor was involved in the early years of the Space Program. After Dorothy died in 1969, married Vera Jane Laue of Encino who died in 2006.

Captain, Cal Tech tennis team; enjoyed hiking, fishing and family gatherings at Rubicon Bay, Lake Tahoe, as well as golfing, telling jokes, and picture and word puzzles. Avid supporter of Boy Scouts and long-serving Rotarian in North Hollywood and Valencia. Lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, recently St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Santa Clarita, CA.

Burial Service at 11 AM, September 21, 2013, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Hollywood Hills. Memorial Service at 2 PM, September 21, 2013 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 24901 Orchard Village Road, Santa Clarita.
