Her civic and industry affiliations include leadership positions with Houston Exponential and the Houston Symphony Society. She serves on the leadership counsel for Activate Global, the external advisory council for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the University of Rochester’s Board of Trustees. At Caltech, Burger supports graduate women in chemistry, and she serves on the Strategic Advisory Board for the Resnick Sustainability Institute.

In this lecture, Professor Yaser Abu-Mostafa (PhD '83) will describe the scientific journey of AI since the 1980s, as well as Caltech's foundational role in its development, providing examples of AI's achievements and its potential. He will also address the hype that surrounds AI, both positive and negative, and put it in scientific perspective.
