A deep dive into Moore-funded research in the physical\, life\, Earth\, and space sciences\, led by foundation program staff Dušan Pejaković\, Gary Greenburg\, and Janet Coffey\, rounds out the virtual tour of the foundation’s support for science. \nMeet Our Panelists and Moderator\nGary Greenburg\, PhD\, is a program officer in the Science Program at the Moore Foundation\, where he supports high-risk\, high-impact scientific research and the development of advanced scientific instrumentation. He earned a PhD in cell and developmental biology at Harvard\, conducted postdoctoral research at Rockefeller University\, and worked in biotechnology and science philanthropy before joining the Foundation. \nDušan Pejaković\, PhD\, is the program director for the Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems Initiative at the Moore Foundation. He earned his PhD in physics from The Ohio State University and conducted research at SRI International before transitioning to science philanthropy. At the Foundation\, he develops and manages philanthropic investments across physics\, astronomy\, and Earth science. \nJanet Coffey\, PhD\, is a program director at the Moore Foundation\, where she leads the Curiosity-Driven Science Initiative. She earned an undergraduate degree in human biology and a PhD in science education from Stanford\, and previously served on the faculty at the University of Maryland. Her career has focused on engaging the public with science through innovative approaches to learning with curiosity\, inquiry and authentic scientific experiences. \nJane Frommer\, PhD\, is a chemist and early practitioner of nanoscience whose research helped establish scanning probe microscopy (SPM) as a tool for chemistry and materials science.  Her SPM studies of imaging\, manipulation\, and measuring material properties of small collections of organic molecules took place at the IBM Almaden Research Laboratories and at the University of Basel. In earlier work in industry she created the solution state of electronically conducting polymers. Her Caltech doctorate was in organometallic chemistry. She is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society. Her honors include the ACS Award in Industrial Chemistry and the Perkin Medal for lifetime achievement in applied chemistry. \nRegister by Sunday\, September 13\, 2026 \nThis event will include a catered lunch with an assortment of sandwiches and salads. DESCRIPTION:“Entrepreneurship in the Age of AI” By Robert Eng and Rex Liu Moderated by Kenny Jiang\nFew areas of modern life remain untouched by AI. Careers and entrepreneurship are no exception. While companies are reducing their headcount and flattening their organization\, upending traditional job functions and career tracks\, powerful AI tools are supercharging individuals to build and scale businesses at an unprecedented speed. \nWe will explore how AI is changing the game of entrepreneurship\, including what new product opportunities are uniquely enabled by AI; how AI is changing the way you build products\, sell to customers\, and manage teams; and how AI is increasing productivity\, accelerating growth\, and improving capital efficiency. \nIf you’re pursuing an entrepreneurial path or aspiring to join a startup\, or if you want to provide mentorship and support for the Caltech entrepreneur community\, join this fireside chat. \nMeet Our Panelists and Moderator\nRobert Eng (BS ’18) is a co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Pylon\, an agentic support platform for B2B companies. Pylon has raised $51M from A16Z\, Bain Capital Ventures\, General Catalyst\, and YC. Thousands of companies have moved off Zendesk and Intercom to run their support on Pylon. Before Pylon\, he was a software engineer at Affinity and IKASI. \nRex Liu (BS ’27) is a co-founder of General Analysis. They focus on measuring and improving frontier models’ capabilities on critical cyberdefense tasks. General Analysis has raised $10M from Altos Ventures\, Menlo Ventures\, 645 Ventures\, and YC. In addition to working with frontier labs\, the company serves enterprise customers\, such as Zendesk and FICO\, on agentic security. Before founding General Analysis\, Rex interned at Google DeepMind. \nKenny Jiang (BS ’97) graduated from Caltech with a BS in Engineering and Applied Science\, and subsequently earned an MS in Computer Science from Stanford and an MBA from UC Berkeley. He previously worked as a product manager at Meta Platforms\, where he led new products in business agents\, payments and ads; an engineering manager at Oracle; and an equity research analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch\, where his team was ranked #1 in the software sector by the Institutional Investors three years in a row.
