The Caltech Alumni Association is proud to introduce Spotlight, a new series of events for Caltech Alumni in the San Francisco Bay area. We will highlight 2-3 alumni and hear about their journeys to today. Join us for drinks, food, and conversation in a casual environment.

Abe Ankumah (BS ’01) Abe Ankumah is the CEO and Co-Founder of Nyansa, Inc, a Palo Alto, CA based analytics software company focused on extracting and surfacing insights from infrastructure and network data for mid to large enterprises in today's increasing digital world. Abe's career has spanned a broad spectrum technology and enterprise IT.

Prior to Nyansa, Abe was Director of Products and Alliances at Meraki (acquired by Cisco for $1.2B in 2012). Before Meraki, Abe worked in the office of the CEO at Aruba Networks, where he was responsible for Product and Business Operations. Earlier in his career, Abe was part of the founding engineering team at the fabless semiconductor company and a leader in the low-latency switching market, Fulcrum Microsystems (acquired by Intel). Abe started his career as a research engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA.

Abe holds a BS degree from Caltech and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Bettina Chen (BS '10) Bettina Chen was previously a co-founder of Roominate, a toy startup with a mission to level the playing field and inspire more girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Her passion in technology and education helped grow Roominate into an award-winning worldwide brand that has reached hundreds of thousands of girls. After Roominate was acquired by PlayMonster in 2016, she brought her experiences to Apple where she now works as a manager on the Watch team.

Bettina studied electrical engineering at Caltech (B.S.) and Stanford (M.S.). She is a native Seattleite and avid ultimate frisbee player.
