SURF dinner
Group: Careers
Description: Share career insights with current SURF students
Time frame: June-August
Location: Local Pasadena restaurants
Time commitment: 2.5 hours
Phd/Postdoc Career Conference and Networking lunch
Description: Talk informally with students about your job search process, your position, your company, your field, etc. at the networking luncheon. Alumni panelists talk about a specific topic (careers in academia or industry, building a successful lab, etc.).
Time frame: Mid-September
Location: On Campus
Time commitment: 1.5 hours
Alumni and student lunches and dinners
Description: Talk informally or formally with current students and postdocs about their career
Time frame: Year round
Location: On Campus, local restaurants, or at an alumnus' company
Time commitment: 1.5-2 hours
Surf Seminar Day Chair
Description: Be a session chair for SURF Seminar Day. Interact with students and hear about the latest in research at Caltech. Introduce speakers and moderate a question and answer session.
Time frame: 3rd Saturday in May

Time commitment: 1 day
MentorNet
Description: This nonprofit e-mentoring network addresses the retention and success of those in engineering, science and mathematics, particularly, but not exclusively, women and other underrepresented groups. Alumni can join MentorNet and become a mentor for Caltech students. This free resource links students with professionals in industry, government or higher education.
Time Frame: Throughout the academic year

Industry Day Representative
Description: Represent your company at Industry Day for students, postdocs, faculty, and alumni. These events are typically co-hosted by student organizations, the Career Development Center and the Alumni Association. Company reps have an opportunity to meet current students and alumni who are interested in learning more about your company and job opportunities there. The event begins with a faculty and alumni reception followed by a larger networking event and a small dinner.

Time commitment: 6 hours
Company Site Visit Host
Description: Host a small group of current students and postdocs at your company. Typical itinerary includes a tour, an informal talk or presentation about the company with alumni employees, and lunch.
